Solved ask updater Error

I was recently working on my computer doing some gaming and all of the sudden my computer started acting a little funny, not running a program correctly so i restarted my computer and when i got back to the desktop menu i got a pop-up saying Ask Updater has stopped working. Along with this error came another pop-up saying Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library - Runtime Error Program: C:\Program Files(x86)\Ask.com\updater.exe this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. I tried restarting, emptying recycling bin and fixing unused file extensions to see if that was the problem, but it didn't help. Is there any way to fix this? Also i would love to know what might cause something like this to happen! I run a Windows 7 home Premium 64 bit Toshiba Laptop with a 4g ram. Thanks in advance for taking the time to look at this!

It seems that ask toolbar cause troubles in ur system.
Please follow the steps in that link to completely remove and clean ASK from ur system Remove and Delete Ask Toolbar and Its Components From Internet Explorer and Your Computer

I've had the exactly the same problem from today and followed every step from the link you had sent from previous post and followed it and from Remove Ask Toolbar of Internet Explorer Via Add/remove programs no 3. Under the list of installed programs, locate and click Ask Toolbar and select to remove it. I could not locate it 100% it's not there, yet each time I restart my laptop It still appears Runtime Error Program: C:\Program Files(x86)\Ask.com\updater.exe this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Remove Ask Toolbar of Firefox Browser. so when I try going to extensions it's not there either, I find it a bit weird, not sure what to do. but it still appears on Programme Files (x86)

Would appreciate any help, thanks.

P.S my youtube is not working today either, not sure if this has anythign to do with it.

It seems that you have ask fragments in ur system.
Did you tried cleaning with ccleaner?

Forgot to say when you said Start ccleaner,options,Startup,delete any ask entry. after I'vegone onto options there's no startup just

where do I go from there?

Ok ive scanned for issues pressed fixed selected issues yes on back up and saved on documents shall I go ahead and press Fix all selected issues there is 380 odd if that's right.

Press Fix all selected issues.
Finish,restart and post if the problem occurs again.
Good idea is to backup in any second hard disk,if you have one.

I don't know if I was being dazed but there was a little search on the tools > Uninstall section I typed in ask, it came up with Nero, but published by Ask.com, uninstalled restarted and I haven't any error, you have been a great help mind you, not sure if it was me being missing out something, just thought I was looking to uninstall the programme ask like I had seen on the website.

This is Microsoft free antivirus and of curse compatible with win 7.

Be careful when you install something free or paid,during the installation check well and untik any other extra software or toolbar.
For example view my attachment,i try to install adobe shockwave and with that i get the norton security scan,so first i untik the norton and then i press agree/continue.
