Hi,welcome to SFI was recently working on my computer doing some gaming and all of the sudden my computer started acting a little funny, not running a program correctly so i restarted my computer and when i got back to the desktop menu i got a pop-up saying Ask Updater has stopped working. Along with this error came another pop-up saying Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library - Runtime Error Program: C:\Program Files(x86)\Ask.com\updater.exe this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. I tried restarting, emptying recycling bin and fixing unused file extensions to see if that was the problem, but it didn't help. Is there any way to fix this? Also i would love to know what might cause something like this to happen! I run a Windows 7 home Premium 64 bit Toshiba Laptop with a 4g ram. Thanks in advance for taking the time to look at this!

I've had the exactly the same problem from today and followed every step from the link you had sent from previous post and followed it and from Remove Ask Toolbar of Internet Explorer Via Add/remove programs no 3. Under the list of installed programs, locate and click Ask Toolbar and select to remove it. I could not locate it 100% it's not there, yet each time I restart my laptop It still appears Runtime Error Program: C:\Program Files(x86)\Ask.com\updater.exe this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Remove Ask Toolbar of Firefox Browser. so when I try going to extensions it's not there either, I find it a bit weird, not sure what to do. but it still appears on Programme Files (x86)
Would appreciate any help, thanks.
P.S my youtube is not working today either, not sure if this has anythign to do with it.
