Please tell me any way to adjust the aspect ratio of videos while they are being played in windows media player 12.....
Actually i have a wide screen LCD monitor with aspect ratio of 16:10...

I also have a 16:10 monitor (Soyo 24 inch 1920x1200) but to be honest, you don't want to force an aspect ratio change on videos, as they would distort. Videos recorded in 4:3 should be played in 4:3.

I have a 16:10 ratio monitor as well and media centre has no option for it.

Does MS own shares in 16:9 monitors or something..?

I can't believe they screwed us on this.

What's more annoying is that the aspect ratio is correct in windowed mode, it's only full screen where it changes to the wrong aspect ratio!

Windows Media Player is able to do that, but it's rather more sophisticated.

In Windows Media Player 12, press Alt, select Tools, click Options, click Devices, select Display, click Properties, then use the slider to perform an adjustment.

However, you can do this with VLC Media Player with great ease, and it's a great alternative. How to control the aspect ratio of the video with VLC Media Player.

I'm just familiar with JetAudio or JetVideo. It certainly allow me to set any aspect ratio I need and any stretching mode that suit the video movies or at my convenience. I duplicate the screen to 32" Toshiba LCD TV for watching movies. Works great.

I use VLC as well, it's by far the best stand alone media player around.

WMC has improved since Vista but it's still lacking essential features that mythtv has had for many years.

Unfortunately my myth box died a few months ago and I've been using WMC on my main machine. It's getting me by so to speak but compared to myth it's sorely lacking.

One thing I can say in WMC defence, is it's ease of set up and use.
I also like the interface/GUI, it's very smooth and looks nice. :)

You can change the aspect ratio with video editing programs - e.g. Format Factory. But then you will get black stripes either top and bottom or left and right.
