Does anuone know how to assign the sleep function to a key on the keyboard. I had it on my old HP keyboard...but I just built my self a new pc...and I can't seem to be able to figure it out....I downloaded MS Intellitype Pro 8.0...but it does not show any SLEEP feature....

Microsoft Digital Media 3000 Keyboard

There was a discussion in Jan 2009 "General Discussion", but I don't quite understand it. Can anyone help?? Thanks

In the shortcut, It should allow you to choose a "hotkey" or key combo to use this... However, I've never had someone request for the OS to sleep... We generally fix the sleep issues by setting the os NOT to sleep.

Code:
[LIST]
[*][FONT=Calibri]Right Click in the desired location (On the Desktop or in a folder)[/FONT]
[*][FONT=Calibri]Select [B]New[/B] -> [B]Shortcut[/B][/FONT]
[*][FONT=Calibri]In the “[I]Type the location of the item”[/I] field enter the following[/FONT]
[*][FONT=Calibri][B]Rundll32.exe Powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState Sleep[/B][/FONT]
[*][FONT=Calibri]Click [B]Next[/B][/FONT]
[*][FONT=Calibri]This will create a shortcut with the name rundll32, [/FONT]
[*][FONT=Calibri]Right Click the shortcut, select Rename and type in [B]Sleep[/B][/FONT]

shortcut is visual representation of another file/folder or command. It will put a file on your desktop (or wherever you want it)... then you should have the ability to assign a hotkey or combo key command to run said command.

This is an old thread, but the post I'm making is DIRECTLY related to it....

I HAVE followed the link, and I have downloaded the vbscript that allows me to assign a key to the shortcut location, however, when I press the keyboard button, it pops up a confirmation window asking if I'm sure I want to "Sleep" ?

Obviously, this isn't what was intended...How do I stop the pop up confirmation window ??
