associating exe files

How do i get my exe file icons to look like an exe file, at the moment all my exe files have a blank piece of paper for an icon. as per attatchment.

I tried changing the icon in the properties, but it wont change.

See if downloading and merging this REG file below may help you. It restores the default associations for the EXE file extention type. You may need to restart afterwards to apply though.

You can try and see if doing a System Restore using a restore point dated before this happend may be able to fix it for you.
