Asus DVD-Rom Drivers Deleted, Now Won't Boot

As per the ASUS form, when my DVD-rom would not read and cd/DVD, I deleted the drivers in the properties, deleted the drive in Device Manager and attempted to reboot. Now it will not reboot even in SAFE MODE. I tried my Windows 7 install disc to do a repair and it won't let me do that either. It says it's not the right version of Windows 7.
ASUS customer support says that they are not standard drivers, but part of the firmware of Windows.
If at all possible, I really can't do a fresh install. That would kill my business for a while.
I do have the ability to access the drives out of the laptop via a Thermaltake BlacK Box.
Any help of suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Did that laptop come with Windows 7 pre installed? If yes there should be a procedure to do a factory restore. Did you make a set or recovery disks? Just keep in mind that a factory restore will almost certainly erase all your personal files in the process. You may want to plug that drive in your Thermaltake Black Box and retrieve any files you don't want to lose. What happens when you try to boot up?

No, it came with Windows 8, but the main program I bought it for does not run well on 8 yet.
I did create a backup image not too long ago, but I don't want to overwrite the data unless absolutely necessary.

When It attempts to boot up, it shows the motherboard splash screen, then briefly the Windows splash screen.
About halfway through the spinning Windows logo, it freezes and flashes a Blue error screen, then goes to STARTUP REPAIR. After 2-3 mins it says the error cannot be repaired by startup repair.

Shut off the computer and disconnect the power supply and Sata cable to your DVD. Reboot. If you still have a problem then the issue is an OS issue. If it boots fine reconnect the DVD drive and Windows should install its generic driver for that DVD drive.
