Hi all! I recently purchased an ASUS k556u series laptop with the hopes of stretching the life of my older music making software. It has windows 10 pre-installed. I would like to use windows 7 since I have the installation disc and is compatible with my software licenses but wanted to know first if anyone has already downgraded successfully with this setup.
I've already looked for windows 7 drivers but all I find is windows 10 stuff.
Any and all help is appreciated!

Thanx!

I haven't looked at the specs for this Laptop but many new ones do not have full driver support for older operating systems.

Have you tried installing the old software on Win 10? A lot of the old software is Win 10 compatible or can be installed and run in a Win 7 compatibility mode.

I have a recording studio (Sonar) and even my old Frontier Tranzport, that only has Vista drivers, works in Win 10, installed in a compatibility mode. I also have some old recording software (VST's) and even those are Win 10 compatible.

Hi Fireberd! I just tried installing again to see where the error was ocurring so as to reply your post and to my surprise it has gone all the way to opening up the project window! I use cubase 7.5 and the research I did prior to purchasing the asus and the compatibility with win10 was/is so vague that I took it as a sign that there was more success in installing by other users, than not. about to test it some more so we'll see how it goes!

Thanx again!
