Asus motherboards: P6X58D-E does it support UEFI

I just ordered a 3TB HD. I was under the impression the install would be normal plug and play. However, something prompted me to google the drive and people had issues with their system identifying the larger sized drive.

Iirc, Brink had my mobo (P6X58D-E). I am still running the second oldest bios. Asus download website is a mess and I can no longer find any info on bios updates. But that's ok, I guess since I tried flashing a few times before and all my settings were changed and I did not know what the new setting did since they were not present in the previous version.

So my question is if I can install Windows 7 onto my newer Toshiba HD: Newegg.ca - TOSHIBA PH3300U-1I72 3TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Retail Kit?

Looking at the specs
Motherboards - P6X58D-E
not UEFI.

You can still use all of 3tb, when the drive is set to GPT as a DATA drive.

Oh no, that's not what I expected. I want the new drive as my system (Windows) drive.

I don't understand why in this day and age Windows x64 can't be configured to allow the BOOT drive to show the full contents of the drive. Obviously, there must be some technical limitation but I would think that a software workaround would be created to overcome this obstacle. Don't get me started on Asus. They claimed my mobo would be future proof. Of course, that's an oxymoron but I wouldn't think that after 3 years the mobo couldn't handle the newer drives.

What would be my options now to have the 3TB drive as the main system drive, aside from having the larger drive as a DATA drive?

On a MBR drive it can only access 2.2T (in one or multiple partitions).
On a GPT drive, each partition in GPT can hold up to 2^64 blocks in length (as it is using 64-bit), which is equivalent to 9.44ZB for a 512-byte block.
You can only use a GPT drive with 64bits OSs as a boot able drive IF you have a UEFI BIOS.
If your MB doesn't have a UEFI BIOS you can use a GPT drive only as non boot able (data) with a 64 or 32 bits OS.
My wife's computer doesn't have UEFI. I installed a small SSD (120G) for windows and programs (MBR) and moved /Users to the GPT HDD. It has the speed of a SSD and the space of a HDD at low cost (~US$25)
