In the past 2 days I have been unable to get my onboard audio working. I tried reinstalling windows on another drive and still no success. It shows all of the ports as disconnected except for the Digital Audio out.

I tried updating the BIOS to the new .CAP format but with no success. Not sure what test to make to see if the sound chip went bad. Ideas?

I assume you have tried reinstalling the motherboard chipset drivers then the RealTek sound driver from ASUS?

Is there any error status for the RealTek in the Device Manager? Try the uninstall/reinstall and see what happens. Uninstall the RealTek in the Device Manager, DO NOT check the box to also uninstall the drivers, then restart the PC and Windows will detect and reinstall the sound.

I just built a system and used the H80 cooler. It was too noisy for my recording studio. I replaced the two cooling fans with "quiet" fans and fixed the noise problem. The quiet fans was the suggestion from Corsair tech support, that others had done.

I did not try reinstalling the intel chipset drivers. I did however tried installing the sound drivers. I will try that. I see on the forum that a lot of people have all of a sudden have had issues just this week...

No errors anywhere in device manager.
