Have already seen some when I was in S. Korea last year on a visit -- the latest technology doesn't require "glasses" either.

Absolutely STUNNING -- but totally Wallet Busting.

Oh well -- Lottery --Here I come.

The technology that doesn't require glasses is called autostereoscopic display.

If you are wealthy enough to get an early model of one of the new 3D TV's look for the Without glasses type of technology.

It's ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS -- even watching a Rubbish TV program can be stunning -- and for Sport it's almost as good as being in the Stadium.

Hi there

IMO the "without glasses" version is the best -- but of course we will need a decent global 3D TV standard -- the USA isn't good in this respect -- "If it's not invented here -- then we don't want to know" is a typical response.

Before HDTV -- remember the old Green Faces with the NTSC TV standard (Never The Same Color) or how it long it took before the USA had compatable mobile phones with the European / Far Eastern / Oceania GSM standard - and even today they are STILL arguing over how European SAT NAV systems should come under the control of their Militiary Satellites.

However CES was able to give people a taster of the 3D experience.

I would suggest that whilst wearing the better type of "3D glasses" might be fine in a Movie / IMAX theatre for a couple of hours or so -- wearing these at home while watching TV won't be an option for a lot of people.

It's still early days and the newer technology is HIDEOUSLY EXPENSIVE -- but believe me is WORTH THE WAIT. You'll be hooked from day one.


BTW this isn't meant to be anti U.S -- lots of great stuff comes from there and I always enjoy my visits -- but it is an undisputable fact that the USA generally rejects global standards unless they invent or at the very least can control them.

I'll wait till 3D without glasses is affordable before buying it, it's always a conscious effort to see stuff in 3D for me when wearing them.

Then, like 3% of the US population has a eye defect which prevents them from seeing 3D (not blindness either).

My mom cannot see in 3D so she has been kind of upset with how recent movies are coming out mostly in 3D. Sucks

It's still new technology but these problems will get sorted out of course --

The future is definitely on the method WITHOUT needing those 3-D glasses.

In a HOME environment consider these :

Some people have trouble with finding Remotes at times -- just imagine having several pairs of 3-D glasses around - Dog will try and Eat them, they'll get sat or trodden on on, end up in the Dish washer / vacuum cleaner etc etc.

3-D glasses in a typical HOME environment is not an option --especially if you have kids or dogs or a combination of both -- difficult to tell which is which at times.

3-D glasses in a movie theatre or IMAX is not really a problem as the cost of the glasses is included in the price of the ticket - so you don't have to worry about "losing them".

Hi there

if the DOG likes a program then its usually OK - the best TV critic anywhere.

The dog always Barks whenever Manchester United score a Goal when I'm watching Sky Sports (or that other "Albanian Channel" which the UK is not supposed to know about).

I can pick that channel up easily in Iceland too.

How he knows its Man U I've no idea -- but dogs are often much cleverer than we give them credit for -- or does he understand he gets a nice tidbit when he barks at the right Goal.
