i have a ati 4850 and i install all the latest drivers/catalyst etc and when i extend my desktop to my 40" samsung led.. it won't fully display there's like a 1" black border all around. even if i make my led primary it still have the border and i also have the latest upgrade for the samsung.

from researching it seem like it's a over/under scan problem but i don't see a over/underscan slider in windows 7 or in the catalyst control center?

It's there somewhere, but ATI did a great job making the worst UI ever,
so you need to take a day off to find it.

You need to have DVI or HDMI cable, otherwise you won't get the slider.

good hunting

I had the same problem with the 1 inch border and you are correct it is a scaling problem. Go into CCC and click on "desktops and displays", There will be a small monitor in the lower left hand corner, click on the arrow over that display, click on configure, you will see a tab for "scaling options" that will let you adjust underscan and overscan. I set mine to zero and it solved the problem for me. Best of luck to ya but I do believe this setting will only be available if you are using a HDMI cable to your monitor.

Good to see it's working for you.

I was typing slow!

It's a little tricky to find it.
Open up CCC and select Desktops & Displays.
On the little display on left corner on the bottom right click and select Configure...

Same for me. Very frustrating to see everyone solving the problem through -->configure but just getting kicked back to the welcome screen myself.

tried connecting DVI-HDMI, HDMI-HDMI, custom resolutions, registry value editing, powerstrip, and so far nothing works. There is no setting for res that I can use that will utilize the entire screen through my 4890 :(

Try the latest ATI Tray Tools.

It's a nice piece of freeware that has been around for a long time.

It works so much easier than ATI's own CCC.

Here's the link:
Download ATI Tray Tools 1.6.9.1391 Beta / 1.3 Stable - Free tweaker for Radeon cards that provides you with support for ATI Control Center - Softpedia

Good luck

With the 64bit version for Windows 7, is anyone able to get the display driver to install properly or is that because it's unsigned?

Just that this might be the reason I have black bars in my steam games top on the top and bottom of the screen.

I'm having no issues with the drivers, other than the fact that I get very low frames in Team Fortress 2 and source games in general. I don't think it can be anything other than the drivers, since I wiped my HDD and all I had on were the drivers and TF2.

Any tips?

Been working and playing with computers for about 15 or so years, now. Little by little, my interest growing until I decided to just build my own. I'll never buy pre-built again, knowing what goes into my system.

Actually my solution, for whatever reason, seemed to be the unsigned driver that came with it. After installing tray tools it couldn't run because of the driver, so I restarted and hit F8 while booting, which takes you to a safemode options screen with the bottom option being to disable windows from blocking unsigned drivers. After that I loaded up tray tools and looked around, but didn't see anything either-

Try loading up CCC again and checking the ---configure option that had just given us the welcome screen. After the driver was enabled, or tray toools was run, the catalyst underscan options were suddenly where they were supposed to be. Very strange.

When I press F8 all I get is a blue bar on the Acer loading screen. After that windows loads up normally.

I must no be doing right then. :(

EDIT: Finally got it to work. :)
