Hi

I have been experiencing several problems with my computer (Win 7 Ultimate, 64-bit) which appear to have come at random over the last month. I think I have narrowed this down to the graphics card (ATI HD6900), which has been working like a dream previously.

The symptoms of the problem are slow cursor movements, general slow responsiveness, and choppy audio, which gets worse before the computer dies an inevitable BSOD death (dmp files attached). I have always used Chrome as my main browser.

I have tried to completely clean the computer of drivers, install previous versions, and use the latest version to no avail. I would appreciate any assistance in resolving this.

Thanks,
Scott

Hi jossman.

The crash dumps has nothing to do with ATI, all they are saying that it is Trusteer Rapport that is causing the BSODs. And you are not alone, it is very common.

I know how important that program is. So I cannot say you to uninstall it. But I would say that the BSODs will continue as long as it will be present in the system.

Two more things .....

First, Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.

  1. Click on the Start button
  2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
  3. Select the “Startup” tab.
  4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
  5. Apply > OK
  6. Accept then restart.
Second, it seems that you have Norton, and you have McAfee. Why? Multiple security means no security, and McAfee is not anything to pay for. Uninstall McAfee Using McAfee Removal Tool.

Let us know about your decision about Rapport.

This appears to be working now. I have removed Norton and Trusteer, kept McAfee (that is my subscribed software). I used the Norton Removal Tool and re-booted, no BSODs so far!

Many thanks!

I would say that it is a bad decision. McAfee will not let you run the computer BSOD free for long.

Not forcing you to anything, just stating the fact. Decision is obviously your.
