ATI Mobility Radeon x1300 Driver Download/Install Error

Hello again jmacg

First off, just for the record I also have an acer travelmate 6463 running 1680x1050 with the 9.3 driver installed. altough my profile info says otherwise.

Have you tried reinstalling firefox and thunderbird?

You mention you installed google earth which i think is a 3d app . Have you tried running any other windowed and/or fullscreen 3d applications? for troubleshooting?

I have not had a problem with my computer like the one you describe.

-I do however have a problem that my laptopscreen cannot stretch the image more than the actual resolution, meaning, if I run an app in 1024x768 I will see this image as a cutout in my laptop screen displaying the actual resolution pixel by pixel, a smaller image than the fullscreen. This is not a priority concern for me because I usually hook up my acer to an ext. screen which stretch the image for the computer.

As for the driver you mention I don't know.

If you go to display settings in w7 and click advanced options and open the display tab, does it say generic pnp monitor?

cheers and good luck.

kokos.

Re your question about Google Earth and other 3D apps - the answer is no. I will install more apps this weekend to see what happens.

Re display settings - it correctly says I have an ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 adapter but says the monitor is Generic PnP.

Incidently, those information windows are affected by this problem I have. The text in the top bar - e.g. 'Generic PnP Monitor Properties' - is sharp. Everything below that is enlarged and not sharp. I've noticed this effect elsewhere in dialogue/information windows.

Incidentally if there seems to be a time disconnect between my postings and others in this thread, it’s because I live in the southern hemisphere (NZ).

Cheers - off to work
John

Bit of a disaster really...

I may yet be forced to go back to XP on my Acer 6460. I haven't been able so far to resolve the issue with the 9.3 driver, which, though it does recognise my video adapter, gives me a mixture of resolutions: the correct resolution of 1680 x 1050 for most stuff that is effectively vector graphics, and 800x600 or less on icons and text that are bitmaps. All on the same 1680 x 1050 page!

Kokosbolle asked if I had reinstalled Fox and Thunderbird and what was the result. It didn't fix anything.

Here's what I have installed so far:

Google Earth: effectively useless. A warning to that effect came up during installation, when it said the resolution was too low.
MS Office 2003:
perfect (IE8 is also OK)
Skype: perfect
Photoshop: not good. All the palettes, toolboxes etc are bitmap graphics and all are enlarged and a bit fuzzy. This means my screen real estate is severely restricted.
InDesign: hopeless. It refuses to install at all because it says it needs a minimum of 1024x768. (I though I was giving it 1680 x 1050!)
Ziepod: useable, but text enlarged and fuzzy
Mailwasher Pro: ditto.

It all seems very weird. Kokosbolle and Woger both have similar, though not identical Acer Travelmates to me, and while the 9.3 driver hasn't made their displays perfect, I gather the imperfections can be lived with. I'd try to put up with the situation too, if it weren't for the inability to install InDesign at all. I need that professionally, so it's a gamebreaker.

If I've exhausted the knowledge of you guys on this issue, do you you have any suggestions where I can go for more information?

Later...I installed the later 9-11_legacy_vista32-64_dd_ccc driver from the AMD legacy drivers website, according to separate instructions I'd seen at the MS Techforum. (Hibernate issue - cause by ATI Radeon X1200 Series (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM) driver) That made no difference at all. But I didn't run Mobility Modder over it first, suspecting that that would have no effect. The sequence of this install, provided by Peter Creer on the Techforum, was:

Hello all.
First post here.
I just HAD to regoster for this thread becuase I am experiencing exactly the same problems as others here, but I have NOT been able to find a fix.
Here we go:
Just updated to Windows 7 32bit.
I have a Dell Inspiron E1505 with the X1300 Graphics Card.
Like everyone else, I cannot get it to work.
I have spend about 8 hours today trying to get it working - no luck.
As with others, Windows 7 installs a driver via Upate that says it is the X1300 - great.
BUT, the resolution is nor right. The screen is not proportional on any of the setting (the max of which is 1024x768).
I can get the Aero effects working, which is cool but the resolution is SSSOOO low compared to what I had in XP.
When I try to follow the directions left in the thread regarding using Catalyst 9.3 Vista 32bit, and try to install the driver, I get the message that "The specified service has been marked for deletion."
So now I am stuck with terrible resolution that is stretched and I just CANNOT get it fixed.
When I choose Standard VGA Graphics, I get a better resolution (but it is still not proportional) but no Aero etc.
I don't care about CCC, I just want the 1650x1080 resolution back again (like I had in X) with Aero effects in 7.
What can I do???
Any help would be GREAT!
Thanks

Have you tried installing the driver using the ATI Mobility Modder to tweak the 9.3 driver? Both Kokosbolle and Woger have done it and got the correct pixel proportions after those proportions were not available to them initially. Same for me, though I have had other problems since I nominally got my correct 1680 x 1050. But for the others it's been largely successful.

I found their instructions for using Mobility Modder easy to follow.

Good luck!

Yeah, on my part it would appear so. Sorry! I don't know about this.

jmacg,
Yeah. I have tried that.
I have tried using the modder to mod all of the drivers up to 9.3 but they all do exactly the same thing. Either it installs the driver when I let the program do it automatically (by just going through the setup) then I am stuck with only 4 choices for resolution, none of which have the correct proportions.
Or, if I choose to install by using Device Driver then manually selecting the .inf windows tells me that "Windows found the files but they were not able to be installed. The files have been marked for delete."
Or, if I let Windows Update install the driver, it says it is the X1300 but the resolution again is not right, and also the hardware acceleration does not work so no Aero etc. Aleso, letting Windows install is, when I install CCC it says that no X1300 device has been detected so I can't use CCC to control the resolution (which I thought may have helped).
I have Windows 7 32bit. Does that make a difference? Would installing 64bit help?
How did you get it to work so you got the 1650x1080 resolution?
What steps did you take?
Thanks

I have 32bit too.

As far as making the correct resolution (of 1680 x 1050, not the 1650x1080 you mention) available, I might be in a slightly different situation, in that the ATI card was not seen from the start, and only a generic driver was installed. Woger had the same experience.

For both of us, the solution was to follow instructions on this thread - install the 9.3 driver to C:\ATI, but stop the process before the full installation took place. Then run Mobility Modder in the appropriate place in C:\ATI, then run the setup.

After that, the X1300 adapter was recognised and the installation defaulted to the correct resolution for my screen.

In my case, as you will have read, things were still a shambles.

Something I haven't done, but which I intend to try next, is to do a new install, first cleaning things up with the GuruE3D Driver Sweeper. And I'll use the 9.11 driver, which I moved on to next. (I found it didn't make things any different. But I didn't apply either Driver Sweeper or Mobility Modder at the time. I just used the standard update driver facility.)

jmacg,
Which version of the driver do you have installed in your Device Manager?
When you downloaded the 9.3 and installed via Device manager, mine pops up with 4 or 5 different devices - one Standard VGA, and 3 or 4 X1300 with different driver numbers.
What version did you install that worked?
This is really beginning to irritate me now.
I have uninstalled all the drivers.
Ran the Driver Sweeper.
restarted.
Unpacked the 9.3 Installer, then canceled it.
Ran the Modder Tool.
Then Installed via Device Manager.
Same thing everytime now - the driver installes and i have Aero effects, but the max resolution I can get is 1024x768 which is 1) too small and 2) not proportional.

OH MY GOD!
I feel like SUCH an idiot.
So I am finally able to get CCC installed with the driver also - same issue.
Then I think to myself "It is as if it thinks my laptop is plugged into an external display, and it is reporting the resolution for THAT display."
So I think to myself "I wonder if my laptop is somehow in Presentation mode?" So I hit Fn+F8 and low and behold that was the problem all along. My laptop was in the external monitor mode and that's why it was reporting the low, strange resolution.
I CANNOT believe that is what wasted 8 hours of my life yesterday and today.
Thanks for all the help - I really appreciate it.
I still can't believe it!

Yes.
It's working like a charm.
Glorious 1650x1080 resolution, Aero effects, smooth system performance.
It's like I have a new computer.
really happy now that it is working.
I hope you are able to get your working.
As a side note, before I realized the problem I had installed the modded 9.11 Legacy drivers and CCC. So those are the ones I have installed on now.
Perhaps that might help you if you are still having problems?
Thanks again.

ATI mobility radeon x1300 problems on windows 7

i had a DELL INSPIRON E1505 ON vista ultimate running on a ATI mobility radeon x1300 and i decided to upgrade to window 7. before doing this i checked the compatibility and it said my card would be compatible. i installed it and on device manager it said the display driver was the Slandered VGA GRAPHICS ADAPTER and the graphics were really gay. i went to the dell web site and downloaded the mobility radeon x1300. it then told me to restart my computer when installations were done and i did, BUT THEN WHEN MY COMPUTER GOT PASTED THE COLORFUL BUBBLES ON THE START UP MY BACK LIGHT STOOPED WORKING BUT U COULD STILL SEE THE WINDOW STARTING UP TO THE HOME MENU. I WENT TO SYSTEM RESTORE AND AND RESTORED IT AND THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I DON'T KNOW WHY IT IS DOING THIS. BUT CAN SOME ONE HELP ME IN COMPLETE DETAILS FROM START TO THE END ON HOW TO MAKE YOUR ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1300 WORK WITH WINDOW 7.

Hi, i had installed this modtool from hardwareheaven and the 9-11_legacy_7_vista_32-64_dd_ccc_mobility too. In both of then, aero runs ok and resolution as well, but when i play games (bfme2 or mythology and others) it reduces the resolution and don´t get full screen. My laptop is wildscreen, but only work games like a none widscreen monitor. Have anyone the same problem after install this mods?

Hi killerkris14,

maybe i have a solution for your problem.
I also have a notebook with ATI Mobility X1300 and I installed Win7-64 in the last days. And first there was no posibility to change to 1280x800.

But I found a tool to solve the problem.
I hope it is ok in this forum to post the link, it is ATI MobilityModder - DriverHeaven.net.

And i used "ATI Catalyst 7.11 Vista (64-bit)" from guru3d.com

Good luck,
woger

Thank you woger, it's really works!

This is the resolve for Windows 7 ATI Radeon Mobility driver problem.

Thank you very much. ;)

ATI Card X1xxx Driver Series are a pain to install

look for version 8.1 of the catalyst (complete package or just drivers) the lastest 10.2 only updates certain video cards and the x1 series cards are no longer supported since version 8.1 but the 10.2 catalyst updates need to be done after installing 8.1 driver because it updates the main catalyst software ad ensures proper working functions.

I have a XPS400 with a x1300 and a HP nx9420 with a x1600 that this procedure ensure proper drivers installed and full functionality

let me know if you need more information

Thank you woger!!!! Thank you so much for providing access to that Modder!! It really helped, although with me, I had to reinstall the latest desktop driver (the ATI Catalyst 8.12 - Windows Vista 64 bit sufficed for me) to get the install manager to install that CH_76829.msi file. But yeah, thanks so much for your help man. I've literally spent the equivalent of like 10 hours over the past 2 days (okay maybe not 10) trying to figure this out.

And thank you kokosbelle for laying out the instructions. For me the windows device manager didn't work so I had to use the ATI install manager.

For anyone else here's what I did after I ran the modder on that 9-3_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu file

(it looks like a lot but seriously it will take you like 3 minutes, not even, and yeah I was installing windows 7 on my dell inspiron E1505 which needed an ATI Mobility Radeon x1300 driver):

I went to back to that 9-3_vista... file,
(2. click the Driver folder
(3. click Packages folder
(4. click the Drivers folder you see there
(5. click the Display folder
(6. click the LH6A_INF folder
(7. in that folder you'll see the CH_76829 file with a computer icon next to it, right click that and press install. (I said yes to the option of using the install manager, saying no didn't work for me).

(note: for me it said that I needed the install manager. If you get an error message with the install manager, just go back to the modder website and do what I did reinstall the latest desktop driver (i.e. ATI Catalyst "something something" - for me I used 8.12)).

Then go back to the CH_76829 folder and right click it again and then install.

Then reboot your computer and jump for joy.

You have no idea how happy I am right now, like when it first started working I almost cried :cry::cry:

Hello!! I finally managed to make my problem go away !!

The driver I used was

---9-3_vista64_win7_64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu-[Guru3D.com]----

from guru 3d.com of course.

If anybody else (poor souls out there like me) has a problem with SCREEN FLICKER IN FULLSCREEN 3D ON W7 WITH ATI X1300 mobile radeon this should work!

First I ran "driversweeper" which is a downloadable exe app from 3d guru which cleans out all remains of older drivers. ( just run the exe, check "ati" and click clean)

Then I ran the mobility modder on said drivers (mobility modder and installation is described earlier in this thread, it looks complicated at first but is really simple)

then I did a simple manual install of the driver (CH_76829.msi) using windows device manager. And now it finally works. Maybe it is possible to use older or newer drivers but this is the first that has worked in my case. If anyone else has the same problem with x1200 or x1250 I hope this can be helpful for you. I usually never follow up posts like this but this has been a real skull-tearer.

but it works... in the end.. yayyyy.

never give up,
never surrender.

yeah, and anyone for whom the windows device manager doesn't work peep my earlier post where I go thru the step by step instructions.

Hi there. I replied to a similar thread too.

To whomever is experiencing the same issue,I had the same problem too and could finally work it out.

Lots of exe files and catalyst versions (11.x 12.x for xp, vista, 7 32 bit) on lots of web sites just to have my ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 recognized and working properly with win7: none of them working. I always got just catayst install manager and SKD development kit installed, but no driver at all, then nothing changed and happend on the resolution of my monitor.

After a few days of research in the web (googling properly) I found this out.

Last catalyst exe file and version for ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 seems to be 6.11. It has been delivered for xp and vista 32 bit and you can find and download it here:

AMD/ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 mobility drivers for Microsoft Windows Vista 32bit

the following step is: how do you get a vista software and driver work properly with win7? Here you go. It's just about running this exe file from win7 but in Vista mode as per what reported here:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/98073-drivers-install-vista-drivers-windows-7-a.html

Using just these couple of steps I could finally make it: anything is fine now with my ATI Mobility Radeon X1300 fully available and working with win7.

Hope this can help anyone who does not believe that there is no way to have tech things work properly and does not give up.

Bye anyone.
