ATI Video driver problem

Hi,

I had the same problem, i cudnt get my res above 1024 x 768, i searched everywhere, i tried literally everything. After having no luck i reluctantly formatted my hdd and installed vista (instead of xp), i followed the step by step instructions Cncmasterw suggested & made sure everything was working then installed Windows 7, finally after installing 3 operating systems in 1 day (Windows 7, then Vista, then Windows 7 again!) i booted up on windows 7 & to my disappointment it hadnt worked – gutted! I right clicked on desktop & clicked screen resolution to make sure but i could still only go up to 1024 x 768 & there was no way i could cope at this resolution!

However, Iv found a much quicker & easier solution & it worked for me, download the latest display drivers here (iv uploaded them for you using rapidshare cos i previously downloaded & tried that many drivers i now cant remember where i downloaded them from!)

Step by step instructions for the unsure!
1. Click on Start
2. Right click on computer & click properties
3. Click on device manager (top left)
4. Click the “+” next to display adapters
5. Right click on “ATI Radeon Xpress 200M” & click properties
6. Click on the Driver tab
7. Click Update Driver
8. Select “Browse my computer for driver software”
9. Using the Browse button, locate the folder you’ve just downloaded “display-20080318145124” & open it, then open “Display Driver” & then “Packages” then “Drivers” then “Display” & then “LH_INF” & then double click “CL_39458” and thats it!!
10. Now restart and if its not already at a higher res, left click on your desktop, click screen resolution and select the highest one (should be above 1024x768... touch wood!)

Straightforward instructions for the tek heds!
1. On device manager click on display adapters
2. Expand & right click ATI Radeon Xpress 200M Series & selec t properties
3. On the driver tab click update driver and select “Browse my computer for driver software”
4. Locate the display drivers folder you’ve just downloaded then follow the following path..
5. display-20080318145124\Display Driver\Packages\Drivers\Display\LH_INF
6. & then double click CL_39458, and thats it!!

Now just restart!!

Pls let me know if this works for you!

Fi x x

Easy fix. I used Windows Update for the HP DV9000. It automatically installed the drivers for Audio, Network, Wireless, and the Ati 200M Video card.

As an aside, I used F8 to disable signed drivers during that session, but I doubt that is relevant.

I am thrilled that Windows Update finally does what it was always meant to do. Provide a one stop shop for general users to get the latest working drivers.

ATI recently released a knowledge base article (article-number 31625) concerning this issue. To get to this article try the following link:

Catalyst AGP Hotfix - Radeon HD 4000 Radeon HD 3000 and Radeon HD 2000 Series AGP products (last updated 10/22/2009).

There are also some patches/hotfixes available for downloading. To get them just follow the links stated in this knowledge base article.

ATI describes this bug as follows:
"Hotfix for “No compatible hardware found” error when installing Catalyst drivers for ATI Radeon HD 4000, ATI Radeon HD 3000 and ATI Radeon HD 2000 Series AGP products".

Works perfect (for me :-) !!

Can anyone please help me? I am using an MSI comp. and I just recently moved from windows xp to windows 7. At first, I thought that my video card (ati radeon express 200m. My comp is really old :D) would update automatically like my brother's computer since I am using windows 7 but it didn't. So I just did it myself through the internet. But when I downloaded it, nothing happened! I tried everything! Still, nothing until now. I can't play games like counter strike or RO anymore and my screen resolution is stuck at 1024x768. And when I try to install Directx, it would not work! and even my OpenGL is not working properly. My OpenGL is only working for limited Programs. Please help me!!! What should I do?
