I believe I can get the latest driver from ATI working for you. I don't think your card is so old that this will not work and definitely worth a try, as I've helped others.

Open device manager, right click on your card and choose properties. Then go to details tab and change the dropdown box to the next lower value which is hardware ids. There should be 4 or so lines that show.

Please post here with the 4 digits that are directly to the right of dev_ in any of them. I will post a custom line for you to add to the .inf so you can manually install the driver.

For now, download the latest driver by choosing any high end new card and run the .exe. Let it extract to C:\ ATI. Then close the installer and wait for further instructions. I will post them for you after you tell me the 4 digits.

Please fill out your system specs in user CP. This way we can Know exactly the hardware we are dealing with. the user cp is located at the top of the page click it then go to edit system specs. It is possible that your hardware won't support windows 7 allthough people have loaded it on some really old hardware.

Go into C:\ATI to support\packages\drivers\display folder. Maybe also a W7 folder but we are looking for the one with .infs in it.

View the contents by alphabetical order and we want to deal with the first of the two shown.

Open the .inf in notepad. Assuming you've downloaded and intend to use x86 32 bit driver, add the following line in the [ATI.Mfg.NTx86.6.0] section and save.

"ATI X1650 AGP" = ati2mtag_R600, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_71C6

Now, manually install the driver through the device manager by specifically pointing to the .inf you just edited and saved. Reboot.

Run the setup.exe in the extracted folder to get CCC functionality if driver installed well.

If you have a problem booting, choose last configuration that worked at the choice screen to undo this.

Cool.

I was checking on your specific card to learn about it for myself. It surprised me when I saw that ATI/AMD claims it's Vista ready.

Radeon™ X1650 PRO AGP - Specifications

So I really think this has an excellent chance of installing well for you when you try the method I outlined with the .inf.
