Plz help my computer that ive had for about a week now was running fine starting up and all that was good. Then the other day i started it up but it was stuck on starting windows so i tried restarting it and it put me in startup repair so i left it on for about 8 hours and it was stuck on the sam screen not changing at all so i turned it of and i just turned it back on about 2 hours ago and its doing the same thing. my HD has 1TB and it is a toshiba im not sure what model or whatever but can someone plz help do i wait for it 2 finish or do i get a new HD. and im sorry 4 any spelling mistakes.

First, it would help a lot if you could provide your system specs. At the top of any Forum page click on "User CP". Then in the left column click on "Edit System Spec". Fill out as much info as you can. A free tool called Speccy can give you all the info.

Can you access Advanced Boot Options and start your computer in Safe Mode?

If yes, try running a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two, SFC tutorial.) This scan will attempt to locate damaged or corrupt system files and replace them with a fresh copy. If problems are found, run the scan 3 times rebooting backing into Safe Mode after each scan.

Once the scan(s) are run, see if you can start your computer normally (without going into Safe Mode.) But if the SFC scan shows no integrity violations it means it didn't find any problems. Or if it shows that some files were fixed but others could not be fixed it will be necessary to try other troubleshooting steps. one of the Forum experts prepared these two troubleshooting tutorials. They are time consuming but have helped many to solve their problems. They can also provide information about whether or not your hard drive (or other hardware like RAM, motherboard, etc.) is failing.

Or you could skip the troubleshooting and jump immediately to a repair install. But if there is a hardware issue, a repair install will not fix it.
