O.K. here is the deal:
built a new computer with the following hardware:
ASUS M5A97 EVO motherboard
ASUS HD7770 Graphics card
16GB memory
1 TB HD
AMD 8 core processor

Here is the problem as i have encountered it:
I tried to use the windows 7 OEM system builder DVD to install the OS and it doesnt even start. i know better to change the boot order and all that so i know thats not it. it wont even start, it goes to a black screen with the text of "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"

And thats all i get when i attempt to run the install that way. i went ahead and created an ISO file of the install disk and put it onto a flash drive. attempting to boot from the flash drive gives me the following black screen: "missing operating system"

Anyone with any insight into my issue will be given a high five.

Welcome Kalo904 :D

What is the make & model of your DVD optical drive for booting the OEM system builder ?

Did you try tapping the F11 key at boot up to get a boot menu of available boot options ?

If you are using the OEM key from another PC then that is illegal. An OEM licence is for one PC and cannot be legally transferred to another PC. If the original PC dies then the OEM licence dies with it!
