My computer is a Toshiba all-in-one, running Win 7, 64-bit. I am experiencing blip-distortion in the audio stream on 30-second intervals, and I can't figure out what's causing it. I've installed the latest Realtek driver (4/8/13), but no change in the situation. It blips whether the audio stream is coming from within the computer or from a music source on the Web. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Wally

Are you running Malwarebytes Pro?if so try disabling it and see if the blip stops.
If not, try this.
"press start key, type "msconfig" hit enter, go to "services", select hide all microsoft services, untill only 3rd party apps and add ons show, then click disable all hit enter, "restart" your computer, twice if you have to, then run your audio program and see if it still stutters. if it doesnt, then your problem is in your add ons and 3rd party apps, your welcome!11"

Tommy,

You're a genius. It was the Malwarebytes. As soon as I disabled it, the blips did too.

Many thanks!

Try running MBAM Pro but just disable "Enable malicious website blocking"This seems to be the fix for most people.

Tommy,

I was just about to look for a new malware program when I noticed your latest post to me. Tried it, and it works. Appreciate the follow-up suggestion. Next time you're in California, look me up and I'll stand you a pint of craft-brewed beer!

Tommy,
The only state I'm in is OLD!

We spent one night in Cardiff several years ago between visiting friends in Devon and going back to London on the train -- just to say we'd been there. I'll trade you Charlotte Church for Obama!

Windows 7 30second blips - another cure

Thank you, Tommy, for the 'Services' fix.
I've been putting up with these blips on the sound on my Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop for well over a year, here in the UK.
I tried disabling everything, one by one, in the Startup list in the System Configuration, rebooting between each one = 27 reboots, nothing changed.
Then I saw your suggestion about the 'Services', 20 of those. I stopped them all, then rebooted, bringing each one back in on its own.
I tried all 20 in case there was more than one cause, but fortunately there was only one culprit which turned out to be "Intel(R) Matrix Storage Event Monitor", which I've left disabled.

I hope this helps someone else.
