That was my first thought. I'm a guitar amp tech and if something is loose, bad connection, bad cable, etc it would cause noise such as that from an amp.

that's odd, my motherboard is an asus z-97a and to be fair it happened on a previous motherboard too, but i don't think it's the motherboard though, kinda crazy that same problem would show up on a brand new motherboard too out of no where.

That sort of agrees with what I said, that possibly an input is causing it. If you used the same case with the new motherboard, could be the front panel mic connection. Or if you use the same input devices (e.g. mic).

Mute any input port and/or device and then see if it still happens.

well i did use the same case with a new board, however there is no front panel mic connection on this case however. all my connections are in the back.

also my MIC is a USB blue yeti. so it doesn't even connect to that at all and this happened even before i had my blue yeti.

If you have a headset, disconnect the speakers and connect the headset to the GREEN speaker jack on the rear and see if you still get the noise.

It would be strange to have the same identical hardware problem in two motherboards.
When you run Audacity, do you have any other application open that uses audio?

Okay so I think we found the problem, It WAS due to xsplit being open. When I closed Xsplit, the buzz went away.

I do have a question though, is there any reason why xsplit would interfere like that and make it buzz?

Also Thank you for your help! :D

I know nothing about xsplit.

But, you should have Stereo Mix set as the default Recording device. Whether that makes a difference??
