Audio causes laptop to freeze

Ok well I recently upgraded to Windows 7 like a month ago and I had no problems, until like 2 weeks ago. It happens on occasions, ill put on a song and it will stutter and lag my computer, or my msn sound will go off and it will freeze for a second. I downloaded the latest drivers and still it freezes, I checked if I have too much stuff running and it is not that. I don't know if anyone has a solution for that. I have a Gateway NV44.

Cpu throttling in the bios or app that starts with Windows.

It's probably from something setting the speed of the CPU lower than it should be, dynamically.

Check your motherboard manual and apps starting with Windows.
