Audio doesn't work during Skype.

So I thought I'd give Skype a go last night. Called a friend and while the picture was fine he couldn't hear me. I couldn't hear him either but I'm sure that something on his side as my laptop plays music just fine. Anyone have a checklist of sorts that I can use to trouble shoot my sound/mic problems?

Hi, as I recall, not having used Skye for a while, there is a audio/ video test that you can perform
before connecting to check everything is working. If not, go to the control panel, hardware and sound in Win 7 and check your mic is setup correctly.
