Audio Interface Causing BSOD. Error 0x000000b8/100000b8

I've been trying to fix this for weeks and its driving me INSANE.

I bought an audio interface to use with my computer. Specifically, an M-Audio M-Track 2x2.

It always causes my laptop to blue screen. If the laptop doesnt blue screen right after plugging it in, then i basically get no audio at all. I wont get any playback. WMP wont play files, YouTube videos will not play, nothing works. It doesnt seem to have a particular pattern of when it blue screens, but it likes to blue screen as soon as windows update is done attempting to install driver software after being plugged in.

I've called M-Audio, ASUS, Posted in forums, and nobody so far has had a solution for me. It is so frustrating.

I've tried so many things to fix this, only for nothing to work.

I've disabled driver signature verification on startup, ive reinstalled drivers, ive updated drivers, i reset windows to its factory state, and TONS more. But nothing fixed it. I hate to return this product because ive been wanting one of these for a very long time. If somebody, and i mean ANYBODY, can shed some light on this situation, I would be so grateful.

That is primarily a "recording interface" unit and used by those that want to record. I have a recording studio.

However, this is a bus powered unit, thus suggesting USB power (or lack of) is causing the problem. However, to see if its the unit that may be defective, you need to try it on a different PC to see what happens.

I already tried it on a different PC, and it worked just fine.

Do you have a POWERED external USB hub that you can try?
Some PC's have one USB port that has more power than others. If yours has this, try that port.

Ultimately, it may just be a compatibility issue and you will have to exchange it for a different brand. I don't see new/newer M-Audio brands mentioned very much on recording forums. The Focusrite 2i2 seems to be popular, however it is bus powered too. If it is a USB power issue, getting one that has its own power supply may be the best option.

I just traded the m-track for a 2i2, and im getting completely different problems with this one. Apparently windows cannot verify the publisher of the drivers or something, so its not letting them work properly.

When you install the drivers, is it telling you the publisher can't be verified (or similar)? Usually there is an option to install anyway. What that means, in most cases, is that Microsoft hasn't validated the driver but not that its not a good driver.

Yes, that is what it said, and i had it install them anyway. But then when i plugged it in it said the drivers didnt install properly.

After Windows starts, install the downloaded drivers (and only connect the unit when the driver install tells you, in most cases if you connect the unit first the install will fail).

That is what i did originally, windows still couldnt read the digital signature of the drivers. I chose to install anyway. It had me restart my pc, and when it booted back up, thats when i tried connecting the interface, and it said it did not install correctly and nothing worked. I may just take this back and just get a new pc, because i feel that this is caused by compatibility issues with my current pc.

I just went through most of the posts on the Gearslutz Pro Audio Community forum about the 2i2. NONE that I found had the install problems you have.
