Audio Recording Level of G-Track Mic Jumps up randomly to 100%

Hi

I have a G-Track Mic. Per other posts in this forum, the mic prefers it when the recording level in Windows for that device is set at 8%. I change it to 8%, and randomly -- and regularly (sometimes even in the middle of a recording in Magix Samplitude), it jumps back up to 100%, causing overload and ruining my recordings.

Any way to keep that recording level at 8%???

I have a recording studio, using Sonar X3 Producer, but don't use USB mics or the PC's sound card. My recording interface is a Roland Octa-Capture.

How are you connecting the mic? Directly to a USB port? or through an external USB hub? If its not direct, try that. Also, if you are connecting to a front panel USB port, try a rear USB port. It may be the internal USB hub and some other device is affecting it.

Also try it with some other recording program, to see how it reacts. Audacity is one to try. I'm not sure if the built in Windows Sound Recorder will work with a USB mic.

I am in fact going into the front USB port. It's now in the back, and so far so good... Interestingly, plugging it in the back triggered an auto-update of the Windows Drivers, which may have helped.

I'll try your other troubleshooting tips shortly if I need to. Thanks for writing back so quickly.
