Hello, I'm having a problem where the audio is skipping on some new games I've tried to play. Specially Metro Last Light and Mars War Logs. I have been able to play other games just fine like Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite. Also, I have zero problems playing videos on Youtube or videos from my harddrive. My device manager is not showing any issues. I have attached a copy of my dxdiag file.

Thanks

Hello Tusck,

Both the games you mentioned were just recently released. Have you checked to see if your audio drivers are up to date?

Up to this point, I've always had Realtek sound drivers, but this new MB came with VIA HD audio drivers. So I've already updated them with the most recent drivers I could find. I have my headphones plugged into a usb port and I'm getting skipping from them as well.

It might be a silly question but since it is only happening with those two games, have you tried to change any of the Audio settings in the games Options menu? I know that Steam Valve games have in game audio options AND the Valve Overlay (that's what I call it) audio options, sometimes these conflict and cause problems. Although I do not know how it is set up for those two games.

Also another thing to try is to Verify the Integrity of Game Cache in Steam, this will see is the game is missing any files and install them. If that doesn't work, you can always try re-installing the game.

Hope this helps.

In VIA's HD Audio Manager (or whatever they call it), look for default settings for sampling rate and bit depth: If other than 16Bits, 44100 Hz (CD Quality) change to that, click OK and try the games again.

You defragged the games' hard drive partition, if not do that, also.

Other things...

I'd look at those 2 games' audio settings, anything unusual? Sorry don't have those...

Having only one HD, right, that is probably fragmented badly, if you don't keep up on it, plus you then likely have poor virtual memory performance.

If the 2 games in question aren't optimized well, that could be why you have audio skips, I'd be looking in their support forums, see if pattern.
