I have a problem with my Win 7 desktop (Dell Inspiron), regarding all video/audio programs installed refusing to open.
My computer itself is getting very old now and the HDD has been making a rather concerning grinding noise for a while now, and the PC is running very slow - I do realise I need an upgrade!
The problem I am experiencing now is when I try to open any audio/video file or the program that plays them itself, it refuses to launch, and freezes without any error message (I usually end up killing process via TaskManager).
Some of the programs that I am having problems with are:
Windows Media Player - gets stuck and some kind of WMP media handler opens in another window
Windows Movie Maker - gives the message 'has stopped working' with the WMP handler open
Audacity - gets stuck on loading screen
If anybody could help with this, that would be great.
Many thanks.
