Hi,

I have been trying for a week now to get outlook 2010 up and running on 2 computers. One is running XP service pack 3, the other is running windows 7. I keep getting this reply on both machines when they try to send test emails. Send test e-mail message: None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server. Can you help me? Thanks in advance, CC.

By default, Outlook does *not* come configured with any authorization settings set up, and your ISP likely requires logon auth before being able to send mail. You probably need to contact your mail server admin (probably your ISP's helpdesk) and ask them what authentication method should be used in Outlook to connect to your mailbox to send mail via SMTP. There are many configuration options you can use in Outlook, but what you configure must match your ISP's settings or you'll get that error (the auth failure is happening during the client HELO or EHLO to the server, for what it's worth). If you contact your ISP and get the correct Outlook settings (and configure Outlook as they suggest), the error should go away.
