Auto Arrange?

Hi All

I usually move my folders and files around so i know where things are but because auto arrange is on I'm unable to move anything. I've been searching high and low and cannot find out how to disbale auto arrange, can anyone help.

It's the same as in Vista. You would just uncheck Auto Arrange.

the problem is not the files/folders on the desktop. i can see the "Auto Arrange" option when i right click while on the desktop, but is no "Auto Arrange" option when i right click and goto "View" while in a folder or drive directory.

Yeah, that's quite annoying i can't move any file or folder in a folder.

I see. Well, you could use the Sort By, Stack By, or Group By options when you right click in a Windows Explorer window. It's a little closer to what you are wanting I hope.

Because the auto arrange option in folder view is on,so we can not move and copy file or folder by click and drag. it is not convience.

You cannot move them around in a Windows Explorer window like you can on the desktop with Auto Arrange unchecked.

That is ****ed up! Thats why i didn't use Vista. I hoped this would be better. I don't understand why they have removed that option? it's alot easier to find the thing you need when you can control where every icon is! /:

You can arrange the columns how you like.

Sorry, not in Windows Explorer for Vista or Windows 7. Only on the desktop. For Windows Explorer, you have the options posted above.

So if it's a BETA version, (and considering the landslide of users who want it) can we hope that it will be fixed until the full release? Can you as an Admin send this problem to someone who can fix it?

You can send feedback to Microsoft directly about your suggestion, but since it was not a part of Vista and Windows 7 Beta, I would doubt that it will be a part of the final Windows 7 though.

I honestly don't find it a problem as I like auto arrange on anyway in my folders and I just have align icons to grid on my desktop, the best thing to do is not make your folders to cluttered and organize them into different categories, that way every thing is easy to find.
