Hi everyone,

I have laptop wich has problems with his connection.
From time to time the connection drops out in the browsers.
I can run skype and msn and all that stuff, but none of the browsers (FF, IE, Chrome, etc.).

When I check my TCP/IP v4 settings, the tab "use manual DNS server" with an IP adress in. Every time I click "automatic DNS" the problem is solved. But after a day or so, he switched back to the manual. I tried my own network and the one of my company, and each time there is another IP adres in the DNS (the same for each network, at home for example 1.1.1.1 and at work always 1.1.1.2).

I already tried to reset my TCP/IP settings, I also remove the manual ip adres before selecting "automatic adress" but it keeps comming back.

Any idea on how I can lock my laptop on "choose automatic DNS server" ?

I'll try it in a second. Hoping it will last :)

I'll keep you posted.

EDIT:
I Justed checked it out, and all the things descripted in there I already tried.
The setting in IPv4 always switches back after a few hours.
Already tried the TCP/IP reset thing, no luck with that :(

Okay

Can you check your event log for issues/errors?

Also check if the service is set to auto:

Go to start >Run and write services.msc -> OK
In services search for "dns client" and make sure it is set to automatic.

The other to test is to try turning off your firewall and see if that stops the issue.

What anti-virus are you running?

Thanks for the reply :)

I'm very sorry, but I don't know how to post/find the event log :o

I checked the services, and all the DNS and DHCP things are set to automatic.
I'm using an avast security pack.
But I just checked the "expert settings" from my firewall and there are 2 things that are blocking my DNS and switching profiles.

So normally it's solved now, I removed the profiles.
I will run it for a day or two and see if it is solved. I'll let you know if it worked.

Thanks again :)

Hi

Well lets hope that works!:D

To view the event log for your PC, type Event Viewer in the search box within the Start button and look for events logged around the time of your problems.

Let us know how you get on.

Bad news, didn't worked :(

I already tried
- DNS flush command
- reset TCP/IP
- Disable-ing Firewall and antivirus
- remove all the networks that the laptop reminded
- CCleaner (dns cache)
- system restore

The event log didn't give any direct problems either.
And still the problem occures.
I think I'm just gonna do a full re-installation of the system. Then I'm sure that the problem is gone :D
I'm going to need the laptop soon for working on location and I can't efford to lose my connection while working.

Still many thanks for all the help and reply's.
Will give reputation and mark as solved.
