I logon to windows 7, Welcome! appears on screen, screen goes black, logon screen appears again.
This does not happen when I logon while in safemode.

Now I actually managed to resolve this problem using the command
SFC /scannow

However the problem returns whenever I use the UXTheme patcher. I've never had problems with 3rd party windows themes before and i've been using the patcher for a long time.

I just don't understand what's going on anymore. Maybe you guys have an idea...
I just want to be able to go back to using custom themes.

sfc scan now will undo any custom themes you use as it replaces any modified windows files with the original ones.

Custom themes can always potentially break the system. It is a risk.

You could try visiting the customization forum and see if they have suggestions.

That's actually the patcher I've been using and it has worked for me for over 2 years now. I have no idea why I suddenly had this problem.

Anyway, I tried using a different patcher, UxStyle and it works! Though I remember preferring UniversalThemePatcher over uxstyle years ago for a reason which I can't really remember. I guess i'll find out sooner or later.

So, I guess my problem is solved? lol, i'm not even sure anymore.

Edit:
I know now why I don't like UxStyle. It stops working for some reason whenever I switch theme or restart windows.
