I have setup a broadband dial up connection in Windows but I need to dial it up manually each time I want to connect to the internet. Though I can set setup "always on" option in my router settings but that is NOT what I want.

What I want is Windows to automatically dial the said connection as soon as I login into my account. I Googled and found a way which asked to put a shortcut to the connection in the startup folder in startmenu but this simply doesn't work.

Any workaround? Thanks in advance. :)

Some suggest t use a scheduled task at logon instead of a shortcut:
Automatically dial the default Internet connection at Windows startup - Super User
Dial PPPoE connection on Windows startup - Super User

No idea if those actually work, or why the shortcut doesn't to begin with, but it may be worth trying.
Any particular reason you don't like your router to take care of it? I find it easier, and more conveniently when having more than 1 computer sharing the connection, if that ever happens in your case.

Hey thanks for your reply, I appreciate your effort. Me being silly, I forgot to mark this thread as solved, the startup folder method suddenly started working just fine after I did all the setup of the connection again and rebooting the machine.

Thanks anyway. :)
