For a number of years now I have been using the Microsoft flight simulator FSX in Windows 7.
I purchased the boxed version when it first came out.
During this time I have un-Installed and reinstalled it many times for various reasons.
Two weeks ago the 1.5TB hard drive FSX was in, failed.
After replacing the hard drive I can not install FSX anymore, anywhere.
When the disc is inserted it opens showing all the files inside including a few exe files. One of the problems is I cant get Autoplay to work, I've tried for hours searching the web.
I will appreciate any help or advice.
Regards
Ray

It could be do to a Windows update that autoplay is not working or the security used for the CDs themselves that the update as some how mucked up.

I'd have to look at my disks again, but on the first disk there should be a simple .exe file that you can double click on for the installation to proceed. Also, you can copy the auto run file to the desktop, I think it's an ini file and read it with notepad or Notepad ++. In there will tell you what file autoplay invokes.

Do not install FSX into the programs folder. As this is protected by Windows and will give you issues. Instead, install to the root of C drive or another drive. C:\FSX. This is what I use. When you install I think there's a check box on install to open advanced options. Use that to change your install path.

I also backup the entire thing to two separate 2TB HDDs and a Blu-ray disk. That way if things muck up you can write back most of your stuff absent of third-party add-ons that have their own installers.
