AV Uninstallers

For most AV programs it is required to use a specific uninstaller for a complete removal of the AV program.
I found this list of uninstallers somewhere (I do not even remember where) and thought it would be useful to place it into this tutorial section.

Update: I just learned that the list was compiled by fredvries. And there is even more at this link.

Eset has now (April 2015) released a tool that supposedly can remove most any AV program.
Uninstallers (removal tools) for common Windows antivirus software - ESET Knowledgebase

Hello,

Microsoft did not write the 64bit tool that is linked to in the 21b.

The file that is downloaded is not digitally signed - so definitely not from MS.

VirusTotal had this scan from August 2013 as being the last date that the file had been scanned by them. Here is a current scan.

The 64bit tool is named MSE Removal Vista Win7 64.exe. It unpacks another tool which is named mssefullinstall-amd64fre-nl-nl-vista-win7.exe. As the name of that 2nd file implies, the interface is in Dutch. That file is from MS and it is the installer for MSE 1.0. The digital signature is dated 13 Sept 2009.

MSE is currently on version 4.

The wrapper (MSE Removal Vista Win7 64.exe) creates a batch file which in turn calls the MS installer with the /u switch. This does nothing more than the normal Windows uninstall process would do. The wrapper provides no additional cleanup that I could detect via Process Monitor.

The link for 21b 64bit is: http://tinyurl.com/mse-w7vista64-rt
(be wary of any link from any URL shortening service)
That link redirects to roytimmermans.be
I cannot find a main page for that website :-(
