No, I wouldn't recommend using Avast with 10. It has been implicated in failed upgrades. Uninstalling is troublesome, it can be very difficult to remove completely.

I guess it wants to hang on to continue gathering your data to be sold . Not what one would expect from an anti-virus vendor.

I added rolled eyes to original post to indicate I was being sarcastic.

There’s an old adage: When you’re not paying for the product, you’re the product.

I’ve had it on a laptop for about 3 months and only way I can enjoy using a computer is to go back to my old PC with win 7. Oh…. and Avast isn’t installed on it.

I was an Avast user for some time, long ago, what finally made me leave was: suddenly, Avast call-up would generate a "missing dll" error, even after re-install 3 times, re-configuring it 3 times, posting in their forum and never seeing that post again -- did it for me.

In all the years I used Avast over 10 years ago, I found that it slowed the Internet connection down and can and will mess up your TCP/IP stack.
