AVCHD Resolution Issues

I have a lot of 1920x1080 home videos in AVCHD format (.mts) from a Canon HF100. In Windows XP, those files display at 1920x1080. However, in Windows 7 / WMP 12, those files play in 640x360. Ironically, if I right click on the file in the playlist and select properties, it even says the file is 1920x1080.

Using Shark007's codec utilities to disable the Windows Media Foundation, I was able to override the default Windows codec, which resulted in 1920x1080 playback. However, it broke my ability to stream media to DLNA clients.

So, I have turned Windows Media Foundation back on, which results in 640x360 playback on both my monitor and on DLNA clients. The really strange part, though, is that if I push a video to a DLNA client using "Play To" rather than pulling it from the DLNA client device, then I get full 1920x1080, but with no sound.

Has anyone else had this experience?

I'm not advanced in video codecs, but AVCHD is h264, right? If yes, try changing the renderer you use for playback. I use Media Player Classic-Home Cinema, so try changing the renderer from EVR to Haali spliter and see if it works.

Thanks for the reply. That's actually what happens when I disable Windows Media Foundation via the Shark007 tools. It does fix the problem for playback, but it doesn't fix the problem for streaming.
