I have the little warning flag on the taskbar on the right side that says AVG isn't turned on and asks if I would like to turn it on. I click yes and nothing happens. I still get the warning. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I found the same message in the Action Centre when i upgraded to 7068, and have disabled the message.
AVG was obviously working, as it had advised me that i had some keygens it did not like the look of. Don't know why it would think that . :o

AVG not working right in W7

I had to switch to AVG when I went with 7000... I had been using Bitdefender, but it refused to work with 7000.

One thing I noticed with AVG however is that the tray icon app does not work, it seems to update once in a while, but I know i have virus on one particulur drive and it does not even warn me of those virus like BitDefender does. They are known EXE's that I know are spyware files and I keep them to make sure the virus protection is working right. AVG does not see them.

Anyone else have issues with AVG, or what do you use on W7?

AVG was performing better than Eset Smart Security 4 but it quarantine all keys for cracking programs :) when is listed in a directory and before that iti freezes activity on PC.
Also I don't understand if any antivirus has to protect Vista or Windows 7 because the file system has some own protection and don't alow changes :) Of courese i don't relay on that but as an experiment just try to delete another Vista instalation on a second drive and see what hapens ... nothing, you can't delete Vista!
Thanks for Kaspersky, I'll give it a try too.

Yeah, you are talking like BSA :)
But obviously it is a false alarm which is not allowed for a good antivirus program, so AVG is a bad one and disturbing. Also the action of quarantine it is doing without my authorization and no way I could manage it. Bad point either. Same for Eset!
I remeber Kaspersky was better after they manage to hold on the terible pig scream and to let you chose about what action to do.
It is my computer and I do not alow a software to make what it want :)

About cracking, hacking and other it is another story but if I had to pay for all software I was testing and then thrown to the dogs for sure it is more than a life wages and my time for testing (from Windows 3) I was not paid a dime, so who has right? I think both, but I do not agree to pay when you don't use software to make money or just see if you like or not.
Like you do, I use a testing version of Windows 7 :) Till Linux will be good enough to do all you want and software will work on any hardware platform.

@ sergio3fr, with your cracking and hacking programs, how many unwanted, infected executables have you got to date?

I'm talking about Vundo variants and bots (identity thieves) that usually come along with these 'special' cracks.

I always use AVG internet security. The standard anti virus does not have all the extra firewall etc built in.
I have used it for years now and never had any major problems with any operating system. Windows 7 is no exception.
AVG does give very good support when needed. :)

I agree with Jayce, (while some cracks do work, i've tried some in the past that do i've since stopped). As far as antiVirus software goes i'm using Avast! & it's been working seamlessly since build 7057.
