I keep getting this after a AVG scan. It goes away if I delete my restore points, but comes back in a few days. It's not every restore point, jus a few.

The F drive report is where my system backup is.

AVG has been know to have false positives. Try uninstalling it, then installing Microsoft Security Essentials. See if it says the same thing.

Thanks. I might try the MS Suite. Right now I'm working off the therory that Diskeeper's Automatic Defrag has something to do with this. I turned off Auto Defrag and the errors went away.

Diskeeper manages the VSS sector where Restore Points are kept, and does so in the Background. All my problems have been with Restore Points, so I tried turning off Auto Defrag and the problems went away.

I'm going to keep Auto Defrag off for two weeks and then turn it back on. I'll let this forum know what happens.

I think I've seen a few people with the same problem that had the same combination that you did, AVG and Auto Defrag. Eventually, I think they conflict in this way.

Well. I got the broken link again this morning. Here's another twist: I only get a broken link when I scan via AVG's scheduled scan. I don't get the broken link if I evoke a scan by clicking "scan now".

Too weird.

Here's the error
"C:\System Volume Information\_restore{997332B2-67F1-48D7-90DB-920F9AE0F53F}\RP99\A0011929.exe";"The file is signed with a broken digital signature, issued by: Microsoft Corporation.";""

aaaaggghhhhh!!! I'll get to the bottom of this. ..........

This is in your "system restore" ... make a new restore point and see if it shows up again.

Well you could scan that first, deletes it, make a new restore point, and delete all the other restore points. And your done.

I did that. I'd delete my restore points, and after a few days the broken link would re-appear.
I switch to a different Antivirus program and the error hasn't returned.
