AVG8 Uninstall

I found it to use to many resources and hog Windows 7 a bit too much so I decided to uninstall it, woah bad mistake got a horid screeching sound from my speakers and a BSOD, Windows 7 restarted but there were traces of AVG left I tried running the uninstall again but same thing happened, so I decided to manually wipe the AVG folder from my system and used Ccleaner to clean up the registry... pheewww No problems after that, restarted my PC and installed Avira instead, works very well and is very low on resources.

Loud screeching sound? Resource Hog? I think you installed something that looked like AVG or simply had a bad install. AVG 8.0 is running smooth on the 32bit beta presently after one initial lock the first time it was run. Feedback was submitted on that.

A program like Norton is one to look at for any degree of "bloat" seen there. The latest build will going on the 64bit here next for a look there.

Thats weird,
I know you have to pay for it, there is a 15 day free trial. But Vipre Anti-virus,anti-spyware is a great tool. its caught like 3 trojans and AVG scannned DEEP and never got anything. (note i put them there to test but they remained in a zipped folder) so i knew where they were.
As far as my vote goes Viper has my vote, not to mention is made by sunbelt software. Great Software company. and its got that kick -a name too haha

The IE security toolbar will flag all kinds of trojan attempts before they get on the system while AVG will alert on any adwares//spywares that go on when trying out new downloads from unfamiliar sites with a ton of freewares without names like download.com, snapfiles, majorgeeks, softpedia, and other trusted sites.
