i had the same problem when i had it. yeah you can manual do it but then a few days later it stopped auto updating again for me. Shame because it was a good AV but i had to get rid of it because it just didn't update. If you want a free anti virus go for avast home. Never had any update troubles with that when i had it.

Funny thing that update business. Mine wouldn't do it either but inadvertently I left it (was browsing elsewhere and forgot about it). About 20 minutes later it updated!! Weird... but now I just leave it and it does it's thing sooner or later...
