B.S.O.D now gone I have removed the drive & need help restoring tree

Yes on an earlier thread I had B.S.O.D that is now gone I have removed the drive & need help restoring the tree.
So what I have done is removed the 2tb HDD and replaced it with a donor 250gb installed Windows 7 onto it.
I have purchased a docking station from a well know auction site (rhymes with I say):-)
I have in stock a 2tb memory stick.
My intention is to insert the 2tb HDD into the docking station and copy the contents to the 2tb stick
The 2tb HDD 778gb used and 1.05tb free
The 2tb stick has 1.9 free.
Once I have copied it over to the stick I then intend to format the 2tb HDD and reinstall Windows 7 Professional 64bit and activate it.

The question is how do I get to "favourites" because I have certain websites saved there one of which is my hotel booking when I go on holiday in late November, I can't for the life of me remember the name. :cry:
Something else I have noticed the majority of the files and folders are written with black lettering, but I have found a few that are written with blue lettering, i.e APPS dell drwdemo epm
Does that signify anything to anybody ? :confused:
Finally is there anything that I can strip out, i.e. delete of the old O.S, I don't want it attaching itself to the new O.S.

Will be undertaking a total upgrade from the case upwards next year.
Case, motherboard, ram, cpu and last but not least a 2TB SSD, but before I do that everything will be backed up to the cloud
Browsing the drive> Drive Letter ??-> "Users->YourName->Favorites"
In Windows Explorer the drive letter will no longer be C:\ on an externally connected drive.
If your going to copy the entire drive to the USB stick, I would suggest you use Roadkil's Unstoppable Copier.
At bottom choose the OS Win 7 and either installer or Stand Alone Portable.

Hi there Bill
Thanks for replying back.
I have just checked out "roadkill" it looks pretty good.
Just one thing though.
Once I set it going and it ends up on the 2tb stick, I then format the 2tb HDD, reinstall Windows 7 install roadkill and point the 2tb stick to the new O.S will I will be able to then read the files and folders as normal. ?
Because after I install the new O.S they are gone as you are aware, I have already tried installing / repairing etc.

One other thing any ideas on

Something else I have noticed the majority of the files and folders are written with black lettering, but I have found a few that are written with blue lettering, i.e APPS dell drwdemo epm

If you reinstall Win 7 on a reformatted disk from a Win 7 disk or image, then you CAN NOT transfer everything from the USB stick back to the new drive. Copy over what you need like "Documents. Videos. Favorites ETC.

Hi there guys
Thanks for contributing to my thread.
I have to say I am now REALLY confused.

Browsing the drive> Drive Letter ??-> "Users->YourName->Favorites"
In Windows Explorer the drive letter will no longer be C:\ on an externally connected drive.
If your going to copy the entire drive to the USB stick, I would suggest you use Roadkil's Unstoppable Copier.

That really pleased me, I then went onto the website and found this;

Program Description
Recovers files from disks with physical damage. Allows you to copy files from disks with problems such as bad sectors, scratches or that just give errors when reading data. The program will attempt to recover every readable piece of a file and put the pieces together. Using this method most types of files can be made useable even if some parts of the file were not recoverable in the end.
The program can be used as a daily backup system using its batch mode functions. A list of transfers can be saved to a file and then run from the command line to perform the same batch of transfers on a regular basis without having to use the GUI interface. The program supports command line parameters which allow the application to be run from schedulers or scripts so it can be fully integrated into daily server tasks.
The docking station from (rhymes with I say) :-) these are the details;

So you can this does need and software, i.e. "Roadkil's Unstoppable Copier" that is UNLESS I'm reading it wrongly.

Then the latest post to my thread
If you reinstall Win 7 on a reformatted disk from a Win 7 disk or image, then you CAN NOT transfer everything from the USB stick back to the new drive. Copy over what you need like "Documents. Videos. Favorites ETC.
So you can see why I'm confused because once started theres no going back.
The stick has more free space than I need to recover from the HDD.
Going back to my thread

Something else I have noticed the majority of the files and folders are written with black lettering, but I have found a few that are written with blue lettering, i.e APPS dell drwdemo epm
Does that signify anything to anybody ? :confused:
Finally is there anything that I can strip out, i.e. delete of the old O.S, I don't want it attaching itself to the new O.S.

I'm thinking that if this blue writing is the redunant Windows 7 that gave me so much grief then why don't i just delete it.
Going further, if I find ALL the writing written in blue and delete that (with Administrator privilege's) then I'm thinking that I may have a chance to re=install Windows 7 Professional onto the original 2tb HDD and if I manage to get that far I can go to "keeping files and folders" and not used the docking station at all.
For me the ideal scenario would be able to re-install Windows 7 "keeping files and folders" and not use the Hard Disk Docking Station.
One last thought I have found the "hotel booking" it was in my Gmail account.:cool::cool::cool:

Hi Bill
Thanks for your contribution.

Please see below

Yes on an earlier thread I had B.S.O.D that is now gone

So what I have done is removed the 2tb HDD and replaced it with a donor 250gb installed Windows 7 onto it.
Once I have copied it over to the stick I then intend to format the 2tb HDD and reinstall Windows 7 Professional 64bit and activate it.

I would much prefer to go down the route of the re-install Windows 7 "keeping files and folders" scenario
than to use a docking station or software etc.

I'm thinking that if I delete the blue files on the 2tb HDD which still leaves me a working O.S on the donor drive I might be able to go down the route of "keeping files and folders"

Am I right in thinking that the blue files on the 2tb HDD and the donor 250gb are totally separate and have nothing whatsoever to do with each other ?

UPDATE
This is now solved, I used a donor drive (250gb) installed Windows 7 onto it.
I then went into the 2tb drive and stripped out all the files, folders, images etc.
I then went to disk management and formatted the 2tb drive.
I have now reinstalled Windows 7 Professional 64bit and Microsoft Office 2010 and both are activated.
