Hi.

I installed some really crappy software called Babylon yesterday before I even realized I was doing it. Nightmare :(

I uninstalled it going through Control Panel and it showed as being uninstalled there and then but when I went back into FFox after a restart the Babylon Toolbar was still there.

Also whenever I do a search in the address bar I get a Babylon result which is not what I want. I want Google(despite their tracking).

Can anyone help me out on this?

There is nothing left to uninstall.

Cheers for your help, Ste. :)

Hi.

Thanks to you both. Using your ideas I got rid of everything. The last thing being in "about:config" which was changing a babylon value to:

keyword.URL;google.co.uk

Something strange has happened here though as now when I type in a general string into the address bar, e.g. 'three' - it gives me different pages of results than I am used to. I live in the UK and this above entry seems to send me to international results, in this case for Three the telecom company.

Normally I get a list of results instead of being directed to major sites.

Do you know why this is? It's defo something to do with the:

keyword.URL;google.co.uk

I put in. I just wonder if you know of the standard that I would put in for the UK?

Thanks for your time, top advice, cheers, Ste. :)

Try about:config paste or type " browser.search.defaultenginename " into the filter without the quotes.
right click on the word shown under value & choosing reset should set it back to the default.

Tried that stve and it didn't work for the address bar. The search engine at the top right of FF still works, just a shame I can't use the address bar like I normally do. Valiant effort though, appreciate it. :)

My main browser is Opera I know how to fix Opera & it should work in Firefox.
First thing you need to do is synch Firefox & make sure all your bookmarks etc are backed up.
Second step uninstall Firefox & delete any Mozilla folders in C:\Users\......\AppData\Roaming &
C:\Users\......\AppData\Local
Reinstall Firefox & Synch .
Not sure how good Synch is with Firefox if it does not back up everything you need try

Cheers again stve, I've got an add-on that does a good job of that called FEBE. If I can't take the address bar that's exactly what I'm gonna do. Thanks for your time, I really appreciate it. Cheers, Ste.

Try this: Uninstall it.
then go to Regedit
Computer > HKEY_CURRENT_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > BABYLON -DELETE-
babylontoolbar delete
Done.
