back and forward buttons dont work

windows7 64 bit. My blue back and forward buttons don’t work in My Documents. Remain greyed out. For example when I am in: Computer > d:\ > My Documents > photography > Nikon > D100 can’t go back to My Documents with the back arrow. Have to use the red cross in top right of screen. After visiting several pages have to press this red cross maybe 20 times to get back to the start. Who helps me out ?

Hi leoknot , Do you have the folder options set to open in a new window? if so change to open in same window (from explorer>tools>folder options)
