When I'm giving a PowerPoint presentation, is there any means of escaping to the desktop, doing something there and then returning to my presentation where I left off? Hitting ESC gets me out of the slide show completely.

Hitting f5 will exit full screen, won't it? It's been awhile since I've used powerpoint.

Hitting F5 will start the PowerPoint presentation once you're in normal view, but unfortunately it has no effect while you're in the midst of the presentation. Esc will take you back to normal view, but I want to return to the actual presentation at the point at which I got out. Appreciate the idea, but I'm afraid it doesn't solve the problem.

Hi Cscw7 and welcome to the Forum. Running Powerpoint 2007 the key command is -
Windows Key +D exits to desktop, and minimises Powerpoint. You can then click on the taskbar and resume where you left off. Hope this helps.

If you're using Office 2010, and click on the "slideshow" ribbon, there's an option to resume from where you left off.
