Background Picture

I am trying to create a document in M'Soft Office 2010, using a picture of a Kingfisher in the background, very similar to having a watermark on the page.

As yet I have not been able to find the controls that will let me insert a picture then fade it into the background so I can type text over the top. For all I know, it may not be possible to do what I want but if anyone has any advice on how to achieve this, I will be very pleased to receive it.

Best wishes,

RonBin79

That is a good hint Mickey - because when you print a document with a watermark, it shows a lot stronger on paper than on the screen. You may want to print a sample first to see for yourself. Usually it is a good idea to make the watermark very faint.

Watermark

Thanks for the advice gentlemen. I have been playing with the settings. Trying to get the background picture to fit the whole A4 page seems to be a bit tricky but hopefully I will get there.

Thanks again,

Best wishes,

Watermark

I have the watermark ok but when I print it out, the background picture is far to strong which makes it hard to read the text. Please see attached file.

My question is, how do I dilute the strengh of the watermark so that it fades more into the background and is not so prominent?

Thanks for all your help thus far,

Regards,

RonBin79

you could try the 'washout' option that i mentioned above, but that seems to go a bit too far - see attached.

failing that, you'll probably have to open the graphic in an image editor (paint.net is free and very good), and reduce the saturation, to make it paler.

If you want to type over the image, just click the image then on the top menu, click Format. Click Picture Layout, then click Text Wrapping if it isn't already. Choose Behind Text. Now, you can type on it.
