So my mom never has time to sit with me and choose files that she doesn't need me to backup (Im trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 on her laptop) so I remembered that a year ago when my dad had his PC fixed, they deleted everything but kept all the files in a folder name "Windows.OLD". They had EVERYTHING there, every folder, all the pictures, videos, etc. How do I do that? I would like to simply take all of the files that I have on my mom's laptop and simply back them up for future access.
If possible, please offer me some free solutions :)

Thank you :)

Hello Dani,

The Windows.old folder would be a copy of the installation that's created only when you upgrade or do an in-place upgrade of Windows.

For what you are wanting, you could create a system image to backup everything with.
