What would be the fastest method to transfer these files from one laptop to another?

Put them in their own partition, image that partition using Macrium, then restore that image to the other computer.

Copy to external HD, then move the disk to the other computer and plug it back to extract the data.
Or if the destination computer has physical space for a second HD (or you have a USB enclosure for a normal HD) just move the disk from one computer to the other and copy directly.
