I bought a Toshiba laptop and it has 3 partitions, the first partition says 1.46 GB Healthy (Active recovery partition) 2. C: partition which says “Healthy (Boot, page file, crash dump, Primary partition) and the last partition say 15 GB Health (primary partition). I don't think the last partition means anything but I'm not sure how to back these up. It sounds like I need the first 2 partitions for a backup but I've never seen this before.

Hi,

I notice you have 3 OS's in your system spec - is this a triple-boot system? Can you post a screen capture image from Disk Management and we can take a look?

Regards,
Golden

1. For a first time backup I suggest you image all 3 partitions.

2. the first (small) partition contains your bootmgr. You need that together with the C partition. But you can transfer the bootmgr to C - if you like. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/209885-bootmgr-move-c-easybcd.html Then this first partition is not relevant any more.

3. You better find out what's on the 3d partition. I suspect that it is the recovery partition.

4. For imaging I suggest you use free Macrium. It is the easiest, fastest and safest imaging program. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/73828-imaging-free-macrium.html?ltr=I

The first partition is the recovery partition which is 1.5 GB then the C drive and the 3rd partition is Best Buy Goof Squad partition which I think is empty and I guess I can put a letter on it and look inside but Toshiba said there are supposed to be only 2 partitions. It's a 500 GB hard drive so I could care less about 14.75 GB partition. But this is the first laptop I bought so I will just image the 2 partitions but restore is something else. I use Acronis 2010 but I don't think it's that great because everyone is using 2012, oh well.
