Backup and Restore Problem

Hello Forum,
My windows 7 pro finally stopped making automatic system restore points, only those created by installing
(2 or 3 at a time, from a long list) updates.
How can I "awake" this function if possible ?
Answers will be appreciated.

The restore point facility is too flimsy to rely on. I would recommend to make images. Use free Macrium for that.

Thanks for the answer.
Recently installed Macrium free and used it twice, made a whole backup of the system's disk (only the part used by the system). Now I will ask (stupid question ?), what sort of image with Macrium is the equivalent to a windows restore point ?

None.

Images capture EVERYTHING on the chosen partitions.

Windows System Restore points do not. In particular, System Restore points won't back up personal files--but it goes beyond that.

Images are a proper backup. System Restore points are not.

Some people have better luck with System Restore points than others.

I've had good luck with it. System Restore has successfully run probably 98% of the time I've tried it. The 2% failures have caused no harm. It's very quick and easy, takes up little space, and usually works to get out of an uncomfortable situation. When it doesn't work, I can resort to a Macrium image.
