Backup and restore

When Im in Control Panel\System and Security\Backup and Restore I find I cant click on Manage space. I want to go there to delete older backups.

Its why I ran sfc/scannow (which didnt find anything).

I have this bug as well, but I found that using the shortcut below allows me to access it as a workaround to manage it.

I still cannot open any other of the links on that control panel page. Most importantly manage space to remove older backups.

Here I also created a shortcut for the Control Panel>Backup&Restore feature as well as the shortcut in the guide there. But go to start up the feature now and it simply hangs up! Sounds like two of us will be needing a repair install while I will likely end up simply waiting another week or so for the "Real 7" not bothering to repair the RC install where this is being seen!

Repair install shouldnt change too much for me. Although Ive installed lots of applications and games they should remain unaffected (?).

If the installation is runing real good besides that you should be able to perform an inplace upgrade install in about an hour's time! I've done that here a few times as well as using the Windows Easy Tranfer tool on a clean install to see how that went.

A repair install will generate a Windows.old folder, but it can be removed later with Disk Cleanup (step 18 in tutorial) after everything checks out ok. Applications and Games will not be affected.

Depending on what may have caused the backup files issue, it may or may not happen again. This will only be like doing a clean reinstall to fix problem with a unknown solution, but without having to format and lose everything instead.

If you don't want to or have to install everything all over fresh again the repair install is the option to clean up problems. When starting up the installer while in Windows you simply choose the upgrade option not custom to go through it in about 80 minutes time depending on how much you have installed.

On one test install here I took the Windows.old folder and simply renamed it as a personal storage folder once many of the subs were cleared out. It became a form of designated backup folder for the next scheduled backup.
