Hello,
1. When Macrium restores from an image, either the system partition or a data partition, does it first formats
the partition and installs the image, or just over-writes the partition ?

2. While doing some Macrium update, got a notice that some pe3.1 auto updated also. Do I have to make
a new rescue cd ?
Answers (on both please) will be appreciated.

On your first question, am not sure but I think it overwrites. Why does it make a difference? == On the second question, I have tried to find the answer in the past when a new rescue disk is required. I have not found an answer yet. I have decided to go with making a new Rescue Disk when the Version of Macrium goes from 3 to 4, 4 to 5, etc. If it is a change where only the decimal number changes, I do not make a new one. Things have gone OK so far.

Sometimes the Release Notes have a warning new rescue media might be needed.
As i can never be sure if a change could cause my current rescue media to have problems, i always create new.

Thanks for the answers.
My first question was just to know how it works.
About second question - the version installed was and is V6, but an update was done (auto) to the PE (package ?), this was the reason for asking, because I'm almost out of RW CDs, and with windows I can only burn the cd, not to erase and use it again.

You need to make a new CD only when a new version comes out. You will know you have to practically reinstall. You may want to boot from a flash drive, that is what I do.
Just have to be sure your computer can boot from a CD, check and change boot order.

Erase cd/dvd RW discs

Hello Forum,
This is to inform about how to erase a cd/dvd rw discs, I opened the site "How to Erase Rewritable CD/DVD disc in Windows 7", inserted a dvd rw disc which some time ago I burned a movie, did as described on that site, after several minutes the erase was ended.
Then I tried to burn the movie back on this dvd (before the erase, copied to the pc), and the dvd is useless, attached a screenshot.
So this is just to inform, now I will look for some burning (free ?) program.
