backup for the first time failed

i mistaken didnt know about this forum until today and im happy im here now

my mistake was today i got the back message and went ahead and configured it for the first time... i got an error at the end, so i figured i'll do again but this time leave out some folders that i didnt want..

the problem is my backup of my primary drive C: is being back up into my secondary drive D:


so after it did the backup and failed, there were several folders in my D drive, i deleted them all, i believe like 4... now my D drive is missing around 30GB of space.. i only have 2 folders in my D drive, both totally 200GB. the total space of my drive is 931GB but now it shows 699GB, does anyone know why its missing 30GB of space.

i attached a pic of what is shown in my control panel for back and restore

is there a way to restore what i did today and go back so i can properly configure it again and choose the right folders to backup..

i do appreciate any help

You can also go into the drive and enable showing hidden folders:

As far as an effective backup solution I suggest using a third party program such as Macrium Reflect. It'll allow you to create a system image (basically a copy of your drive) and once you create a boot disk you'll be able to revert to that system image.

this doesnt work because i already deleted the backup manually by right clicking on the folders and deleting. so it no longer shows any back ups.. it like holding that 30GB on reserved? as far as hidden, only two folders on that drive and nothing is hidden..

To show hidden operating system files, you will see the recycle bin that is probably holding your 30 gb of space.

Here's a few screenshots to show you what I mean. I was wondering about that space on mine before till I finally found them there.

i saw that but there isnt a folder to even start with step one. go to folder options. there is no folder unless its hidden in the recycle bin.. like i previous said, i deleted the folders, maybe its hidden in the recycle bin. let me do some more. i will reformat the drive. and start over

Just go to computer, in the upper left organize, folder and search options, view, and you get this window here.
