Hi guys,
running windows 7, i have two drives c and f. f is used for backup storage and is a internal drive. using windows back system they will not complete. it only backs up about 630mb of data. both drives have passed disk checks and show no problems. i have tried some things but nothing has worked so far. my first two backups completed i think they show 3.29gb of data backed up. would a external drive make a difference with some other backup software? i recently reinstalled windows 7 64bit from 32bit. about 1 month ago. all else seems to be fine with computer.
any ideas would be great. thanks.

The problem is it doesn't say if the error is on read or write. Windows backup is rubbish use a free imaging software to backup see if that works. Does event log show were the problem is. You could back half of the backup then the second half see were the error is

Both passed chkdsk? That is usually the cause of the message.

I hope you "tell" Windows Control Panel's Device Manager's disk area to Disable that internal backup drive when not actually making a backup. Ransomware, if it hits, will hit everything attached and active, internal or external. I don't know if any ransomware can Re-Enable an HD, internal or external, via Control Panel's disk area.
